Make Your Own Light Box

I'm not a professional photographer by any means, so I look for all the help I can get when it comes to taking pictures for the Craft Anyway blog and my Etsy shop. Luckily, my father has a Nikon D50 that he is more than willing to share, which helps a ton, but I still don't know how to use all of the fancy features. So when I found this tutorial by The Scrap Shoppe on how to make a light box, I had to give it a try.

So, I turned Kaeleigh's Hello Kitty tricycle box...

Into this!

And since the pictures I take for my Etsy shop are mostly of headbands, I needed a way to display them so that they didn't keep rolling around in the box so that I couldn't get a good angle on them. So I also made this...

It's just a partial roll of paper towels wrapped in white fabric left from the light box and secured with straight pins. Genius, I know.

I'm still not a professional photographer, but that's okay because I leave the real photography to my best friend, Mallory, and her husband, Josh, over at J&M Expressions (yes, that was totally a name drop). I do, however, think my pictures are looking much better now...

  4. Awesome! I keep saying I'm going to make a light box, especially since the days are getting shorter and I photograph a lot (of food) in the evenings. Need to get on this asap! Stopping by from Skip to my Lou.

  5. I love this idea! I really need one of these! I’d love for you to link your project to Things I’ve Made Thursdays. I’m trying something new this week- We have two sections to the party- one for kids’ things and one for “Anything”!! I think this post would be an awesome addition to the “Anything Goes” party!

Hope you’ll stop by on Thursday and link up!
